More great news, many of you were waiting for the Ironclad Plus to come back, and you let me know through your messages and the huge subscribers list for that product, it has been out of stock for almost a year but it hasn’t been in vain.
I always try to make the top model of Ironclad have all the available functions and my latest advancements, and this last year has been a year with a lot of movement in the MiSTer FPGA platform, so I basically had to redo it practically from scratch a couple of times since; first came the s-video support, then the official IO 9.2 with its improvements, and then the new FPGA boards compatible with the MiSTer project, and here is the result; this new Ironclad DX completely replaces the Ironclad Plus and has EVERYTHING plus more.
New features over the, now officially discontinued, Plus model:
- Megadrive A/V out replaced with Saturn A/V Out. More pins, more capabilities (S-Video)
- Built-in integrated internal MT32-Pi support
- Integrated audio DAC, and audio amp
- 24-bit analog video output
- Dual SDRAM mode support keeping RST, OSD, and USR functionality via case button and remote
- Integrated PSU, ATX psu is not mandatory anymore
- Dual function DB9 port; SNAC8 or Megadrive 1P Official SNAC
- Support for DE10-Nano, Mister Pi, and QMTECH Cyclone V KFB
- Even easier assembly process
- Improved more efficient and smart electrical distribution and protection circuit
- Lots of small improvements under the hood

I hope you like it, I have put my best effort into it, the most complete MiSTer FPGA I/O board I myself would like to use with your best ideas incorporated.
It will be available for purchase on Friday Feb 7, 2025 at 17:00 GMT, it will be a “pre-order” at first, as this board is much more complex, has more bridges and more manual work on my side, estimated shipping date is the month of March in order of purchase, but it will ship ASAP, maybe yours will ship earlier if you are one of the first, I’ll do my best but don’t count on that. Subscribers waiting for the old Plus model will receive the notification for this new DX model instead, you don’t have to subscribe again but nothing bad will happen if you do it, I will be updating the product page at the shop during the coming hours in advance for the launch. Shiping status of the batch will be updated at the space dedicated to it at the front page.
Also, remember the only support contact method is the e-mail d3fmodfpga@gmail.com, as shown at the footer of the whole web page, since November 2024 this address is the only one i have access to, I was using previously a hotmail.com account but that account was constantly being hijacked by Microsoft asking for a ransom in the form of an expensive subscription to its services for enterprises that I don’t need, till they decided to spoil the last Ironclad Lite launch mailing for subscribers and that was enough. If there was some conversation pending in the old e-mail, please refresh my memory using the current address.
